Before I go on with this entry, I first would like to say, and I believe I can speak for Organik D’Va as well, that we are sending our hearts and prayers for the families of and the whole world’s haitian community for the desastrous time they are going through right now. Families are mourning their loss, families are worried for their MIA loved ones, and others rejoicing from better news. It is in times like these that we need to stay close to each other, to be proactive, research unity and even solidify our faith in God. Prayers for others for God to touch their hearts and give them PEACE that surpasses all things are always needed. Prayers aren’t to be underestimated… never. You are in our hearts. Always.

Last year, I had the idea of having a closet sale in my apartment. The concept was simple. Have my friends gather clothes they would never again wear and bring it to my home. My sister, one of my best friend and I just took a whole evening to sort everything out by categories, and place everything in the living on the clothes racks (three that I bought on sale for 10 bucks each), in the niches of my book shelves, on a shoe racks, kitchen chairs, and computer desk. I had emptied out the living room off its couches that were transfered in the kitchen. My bedroom as well served for the boutique and was emptied out, where the kitchen table turned out to be as well as the living room’s coffee table (right under it) to place more clothes. My wall shelves served to display bags and my mattress as well (see below pictures). Everyone that came, be it they brought clothes or not didn’t leave empty-handed. With everything, jewelry included, for less than 5$, but a single winter jacket that was sold at 7$, the ladies left satisfied. The remaining clothes went to the Association for Mental Illness of Quebec. And the money, redistributed with the ones that brought 20 items and over.
This year, I am planning a PART TWO of my closet sale, and since I want to contribute to helping out Haiti, I decided that the clothes remaining and the money collected will go straight to Haiti, and that I’ll be taking non perishable goods as well.
Of course, just like the last time, drinks, food, laughter and smiles will be the order of the day. Even though, a lot of us are far from smiling, there is always a way to give of ourselves for a good cause.
I am asking you to steal my idea. You will have a fun event, and instead of just donating goods, it is also a way to collect money. Be active, be proactive, and be honest. Good deeds are always rewarded, and sometimes we don’t even see how it’s been rewarded afterwards, but it can be in little things or big things. That’s why we should savor the little happy moments and achievements, be it a newfound friendship or love, a smile from a stranger, a new baby in the family, a new job, a new flavor on our taste buds, a new scent, a friend’s warm touch, finding an old CD you thought you had lost, a gift, giving your time and energy to strangers, passing a test successfully, saving a life… millions of other thing can follow those three dots, but I want you to instead take action. Create the opportunity, give of yourself in prayers or in action and/or in goods. Be that person you watch and say “Wow, look at what that person did for those people”. We may feel powerless sometimes, but the littlest actions are still ACTIONS.

Hi !
Thanks for doing your part in helping the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. You’re showing everyone that we all can help, in our own way.
Keep it up !
