For love of art…

By M♥

On a sunny evening in the Old Port of Montreal, a jolly blogger was crusing the De la Commune street on her way to Narcisse Bistro restaurant for a “loungy hour” or “6@8″ in local french slang, for an evening dedicated to Art rightfully called “Soirée des Artistes”. This blogger being I, step inside this cozy eatery with view of the street buzzing with happy hour goers, tourists, lovers and all in between admiring the general splendor of the euro-north-american-like quarter of the old city. Though I wasn’t there to primarily enjoy the food (this will come in due time), a glass a wine amongst art lovers and friends to discover or enjoy a man’s passion for his city, his contrasting visual angles and surprises through his lens… photographer Denis Lavoie.

During the “Soirée des Artistes”, artists from different walks of art, from painters to singers, poets to professional sommeliers share their passion with the guests. This new initiative becomes a platform for emerging artists, especially local ones. The next seven editions have already artists in line for you to discover. If you enjoy listening to jazz music, be elated by poetry, tantilating your your senses with wine tasting, see the world through someones else’s eye through photography, or delect in other type of art and do so in a nice cozy ambiance, a glass of wine in hand, this is where you need to be. I definitely enjoyed my time discovering Denis Lavoie’s photographies and the conversations I had – very soon can you savor moments as such. Be at the rendez-vous for art of Old Port Montreal at Narcisse Bistro + Bar.

Here is a preview of what is to come this summer…

June 17th – Olivier Sénéchal, painter

July 29th – Isabelle Godmer, jazz singer

August 19th – Anthony Guerra, sommelier

For an artful summer, be at the “Soirée des Artistes”. No need to be a tourist to enjoy the city to the fullest… but then again, being a tourist in your city is not a bad idea.

Anyway, as always… you know who sent you!!

Live + Laugh + Love…
