Many of us spend our whole lives
Running from feeling
With the mistaken belief
That you cannot bear the pain.
But you have already borne the pain.
What you have not done
Is feel all you are beyond that pain.

Roberta is a good friend of my sister since high school. Roberta is the mother of Julia. Julia is 12. Roberta is in her early thirties. She also just learned a couple of weeks ago that she has breast cancer. She is a young mother with vitality. How and Why are the first two words that crossed my mind.
Knowing that I had seen her not so long ago and that our age difference is so short, made me stop, breathe, and think. I look at the three generations of women in my family and it struck me… we could all have it tomorrow. It creeps silently then violently. Fortunately we live in an era where medecine has greatly evolved, but not to a point that an overall 100% unfailing cure came from it. It is still being worked on.
As breast cancer is the number one killer of women, the search for a cure should touch us more, though we do not wish it on anyone, we can be its victims as early as tomorrow. Enter Marie-Annick Boisvert, a woman who back in 2002 wanted to do her part to fight for a future without breast cancer by holding a dinner party with friends. A party 30 turned into a fundraising celebration of reuniting 500 women and 50 lucky men, raising a wooping 35 000$ for the cause.
That celebration is called BREASTYOURSELF presented for the 2nd consecutive year by BCBGMAXAZRIA and November 5th marks the day for this year’s edition taking place at downtown Montreal’s Théatre Telus as of 7pm. Not only it promises to be a night of fun, with the attendance of local celebs like Virginie Coossa (3rd time spokesperson), Anne-Marie Withenshaw, Angelo Cadet, and great food by Avocado Traiteur and collabos with magazine Elle Quebec, and fellow bloggers like Camille DG, Patrick White and Cindy from ModeTrotterBlog, but YOUR presence is a direct contribution to helping out finding that amazing cure.
Take action while having fun, for when this cure sees light, you can say that you played a part in it! I am going for breast cancer. I am going for Roberta. Who are you going for?
And again Live. Laugh. Love… your breasts!
