For the past years, the color pink became more than just “a color for girls” – I could argue defensively that it’s a color for women too, but it is even more than just for us as well. That color symbolizes a fight that’s been lingering for much too long – the fight for a future without breast cancer. Needless to say that whether directly or indirectly… we’ve all been touched someway somehow by this disease.
On all corners of the world, philanthropists in forms of individuals, groups or corporations take action to contribute to brighten up this future. For example, Canada’s #1 bathroom tissue Cashmere is taking action. To support and raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Cashmere presents the first and only BT (for bathroom tissue) Couture White Cashmere Collection introduced in 2008 since its installment as only the White Cashmere Collection in 2004.
For 2010, 15 canadian and Quebec designers were asked to conceive masterpieces all made with the said-bathroom tissue as the main fabric. And to make matters better, Cashmere celebrates the return of the Pink Cashmere offered in a limited edition in order to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, as 25 cents per sold package will go directly to the aforementioned foundation. And the Pink Cashmere also comes in play in the conception of the designs that will be presented, adding contrasts character, and femininity.
This year, 15-piece collection will be presented in the annual show Mode et Compassion (Fashion and Compassion) where glamour is always in attendance.
Here’s a sneak peak of sketches of some of the designers that will present this year. They will soon and proudly be showcased in Montreal’s and Toronto’s main The Bay’s storefront.
