Montreal Fashion Week: Ralph Leroy slowly releases information!

by Organik D’va

There is alot going on these past few days in the world of fashion! New ideas! New concepts! With the eco-friendly world we live in, we truly need to be aware of what is going on with the environment. Global warming, oil spill in the lakes, the air being polluted…it is just not a pretty picture! What should one do?! It has been said over and over again that we should be the change we want to see. We can definitely make a difference in our own lives and it starts with the little things.

When Ralph Leroy arrived in Montreal, he had mentionned at his first show, that he is from  the 5 elements of water, air, earth and fire ; he did not reveal the 5th one. Well my dear readers, the next Ralph Leroy show for Montreal Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2011 is going to be inspired by one of these elements. Before revealing this element, let me tell you that there was also a casting done to find the new face of Ralph Leroy ‘s new collection ; all in which was done with the collaboration of the wonderful photographer, Vincent Chine. The hype that was created around that casting to find who would be the next face for the campaign was really  intense! Hundreds of people commented and voted for their favorites on facebook as they would tease us and post a few pics of the different candidates! Check out Ralph’s fanpage to see for yourself! www.facebook.com I even got into it and started voting ! I have to tell you I had my eye on Mat (picture on the right)! How gorgeous is he?!

From the picture that Ralph posted on his profile , I have a feeling that Mat did not make the cut but thank you  for that visual delight! :-) So back to the picture on his page…. if you look closely you will notice the color that stands out on that image gives you direct access to the element that Ralph Leroy wants to work on for the show. I must say that it is a very nice picture, a true statement!

Without truly knowing the details of what will happen at the Montreal Fashion Week in September, I feel that we will be taken to a trip into the ocean, getting to know the creatures that live deep into the sea. I see a whirlwind of emotions, a cry for help from the sea, an ivasion of color in all shapes and forms.  There will be a serious look at the pollution and conditions of our water embraced with a fresh outlook to all of this because where there is love there is light!  It doesn’t have to be depressive, we just have to be present to it. I think that Ralph Leroy feels the need to bring us into that realm of thoughts because it is a serious matter. In moments where all eyes are on his designs and he has all the attention, what better way then to use the runway as his canvas and start painting life as he sees it to be ; a dose of reality check!

What can I say…..True freedom of  expression meets the liberty of fashion!  It doesnt get any better than this! I can’t wait to see the show!

Until then, don’t go too far because I have more news to share with you very soon!

Take care of the earth, take care of your heart!
