“Through literacy you can begin to see the universe. Through music you can reach anybody. Between the two there is you, unstoppable.” – Grace Slick
I found this quote while researching for this post, and I could not agree more. Literacy is a precious token to make one discover or learn of new worlds, walk gardens of ideas and open one’s eyes to fascinating, innumerable things. It’s undeniably the key to knowledge paired with the use of our senses for true experience. I have unfortunately found myself being detached from engaging into my once #1 passion… reading. With work, social life, responsibilities and internet, I let reading and the books accumulate dust. Gladly it’s only the end of a chapter and the genesis of another. I will pick up my last books and finish it.
But why the reading nostalgia? Well it got me thinking about adding the Literature category to Paperlanes.ca, which is today seeing light. Every month Paperlanes.ca will feature one or more books for your reading enjoyment.
As this is a Fashion, Beauty, Art, Design and Gastronomy blog, I want to mention a publishing house that I absolutely love… TASCHEN. When thinking beautiful coffee table reads, or books to immerse myself in the worlds of great artists, amazing fashion designers, architects, our planets many cultures or geographies and more, it’s my first stop.
I am really excited by this new category and hope you will be too. I invite you personally to share your great reads of the month, the week or the day – they might just make it in the following months’ feature.
Have a great read for “Reading is a basic tool in the living of a good life“, as Mortimer J. Adler cleverly said.
Live, Laugh & Love… to read.
P.S.: Speaking of Taschen, here are some titles they shelve for the great pleasure of many.
