Montreal is invaded by breakfast places! Even regular restaurants have invested in opening earlier to serve the early birds, let’s face it, we just love to get together and eat!

Personally, there is nothing worst than waking up early to go eat at a spot and the food is nasty! I always thought to myself, how can you mess up eggs and bacon, well my dear readers some people find a way to do so!  Two weeks ago I went to this place and the food was cold with no taste! Wow…I will not mention the name of that popular place but I know  I won’t go back!

What I am looking for in a breakfast place? Well this ‘morning’ moment (can i say that?! morning moment?!)  is very important because it sets the mood for the rest of the day. I can wake up and make tea ,eggs, sausages,toasts and all that good stuff and stay in the comfort of my home but i choose to leave the house and share that moment in a restaurant so it better be worth it!! We all know that there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!! (and no i am not cranky in the morning! lol …i just love to eat )

So last Wednesday I met up with a wonderful soul to chat about finances (which we never got around to talk about it) at a small breakfast place on the Plateau called ‘Au Pain Perdu’ (should i translate and make it lose its charm?! So it would be  ‘At the lost bread’..lol..you asked for it! )

Why did this place win my heart you think?! Well I felt like I was home! That is what I have been trying to find in breakfast places for a long time! If i cooked my breakfast , I would have done it the exact same way. My style of cooking is pretty simple, not alot of seasoning and a whole lot of love! Everything has to be fresh, nothing defrosted and if you really have to defrost make sure i don’t catch you! My taste buds are sharper than Chef Ramsay’s knives! haha! Whatever that means!

And so it was! I picked a very simple combo; scrambled eggs, sausages , potatoes and fresh fruits. Everything was fresh and so tasty! To top it off, they offer different styles of bread with your plate. You can can get the ‘baguette’, bagels, regular bread and what was on the list and started giggling!!!! I had the option of getting ‘Raisin Bread’ oh you have no idea how i looove me some hot raisin bread with butter! I decided to go all out and ask for some real maple syrup and you can guess the rest..its starts with ‘food’ and ends with ‘gasm’ hehe…

Au Pain Perdu Restaurant is a simple place that serves great food with fresh ingredients. They have a great and fun menu with lots of things to choose from so I need to go back real soon!

It just simply started off my day on a beautiful note and the wonderful soul I was with made it even more magical! Isn’t it amazing to start off the day with someone you love!?

Make sure you eat in the morning, it is worth every second!
