Zagrum Restaurant: More than oranges

By Myriam ‘M♥’ Richard

In the Ahuntsic borrough on Montreal, specifically on Fleury street, corner Papineau sits one of my favorite places to brunch in the city, Zagrum.

The name derives from the french word for citrus fruit, agrume. I was introduced to it by one of my best friends and since, I’ve been hooked… enough to introduce it to other friends of mine, including my mother who loves it just as much as I do now. I have a fancy for cozy and not overly crowded restaurants, and what I love with Zagrum is that even when all tables are occupied and there’s a line up, it doesn’t feel over-crowded, the result of a well layed-out circulation plan.

The reasonably extensive menu is both classic and modern in its choice of meals, with gourmet concoction normally not found in most popular breakfast joints. You know that I’m a burger lover and always tend to choose it if found on a menu. And to my delight, I had the pleasure of tasting a bison burger that was part of their daily special menu, and oh my goodness, it was fantastic! Juice, flavor, cooking level, condiment choices… all on point. When you go and see it on their menu, I suggest you try it. My buds said yes, and I believe yours will too.

The service at Zagrum is very courteous, fast and most importantly professional. So far the staff has shown good knowledge of their menu and other related issue concerning the eatery, avoiding trips to inquire the chef or other staff members, though inquiring for confirmation is always welcomed.

Though I tend to eat at restaurant close to downtown or on the Plateau, doing the less than 10-minute drive from my house to  Zagrum shows that good restaurants are found all over our city’s ground.

I invite you to peep this video showing the dynamics of Zagrum.

Live. Laugh. Love. Brunch.
