Friday night after a get together with friends we were getting hungry. Our lovely M(heart) suggested that we go to La Banquise. While we were waiting, I turned to another friend who was with us and asked if he had ever been to La Banquise and he said no! You should have seen our faces! We shouted: No!!!?? what do you mean no?! When you think of it there are many places that we haven’t been that are considered milestones in Montreal and La Banquise is one of them!

This 24hr snack bar has been opened in 1968 and it has slowly transformed into THE poutine place! They have more than 25 types of poutine, it is so fattening but the taste is so good, its a guilty pleasure! The friend that has never been was blown away! I am telling you, it is a place to check out!

What is a poutine!?

Well it is pretty simple, its french fries with cheese curds topped with a brown gravy. It is like i said pretty simple but you have to have the right ingredients! Especially for the fries and the gravy, it can make it or break it! This recipe is pretty heavy, let me tell you! You can’t have it everyday, although it is tempting!

The perfect thing is that the restaurant is open for 24hr and the service is pretty quick. Their poutine flavors have all the toppings you can imagine and they also have other things on the menu like burgers, salads and stuff. Lol!  Can you tell I never look at that part of the menu?!  When I say all the toppings i mean, sausages, vegetables, spaghetti sauce, beef, guacamole, sour cream…..yeah it gets pretty funky!

You’ve had a few drinks at a party and your stomach is growling?! It is the BEST time to go grab a poutine!
