Last year was a memorable year! I must say that I was very happy that the World Cup was hosted by an African Country! It gave so much exposure to South Africa and also it created awareness for those who have a misconception of what Africa looks like. There is so much ‘richness’ in the African culture, it’s ridiculous! Although today I am talking about fashion, don’t get me started on the food over there. Wow!! I have a Ghanian friend who cooked some ‘jellof rice’ for me recently… finger liking good. I will make sure I share a few recipes with you guys soon but for now let’s talk about fashion. Recently (well i might be a little late) I noticed that major fashion houses have played around with African fabrics and it looks gorgeous!
Actresses and performers also are wearing a few African-inspired fabrics.
If you dont want to go ‘all out in that fabric there is a very nice way to pair with a nice jacket for spring. I found this blogger’s picture and I had to show you.
Having a bad hair day? You can also wear it as a turban. Pair it with a simple outfit and off you go!
Ok so you reeeaally don’t see yourself wearing any African prints?! Let’s face it, it is a ‘loud’ fabric, it does command attention! So I found something you might like… Shoes!!!! Aldo came up with a very nice african print inspired summer shoe.
So there you have it. No excuse this summer! Have fun with these beautiful fabrics. The colors are fun and so liberating. Did you know that a lot of these fabrics are HAND MADE? Next time pay attention to the craft and the designs, it’s so organik! Although these kind of fabrics have been around for ages, I feel that more and more celebs are digging that style. This summer and next summer watch out for this style! Now that I think of it, it is a trend that can’t really go out of style! 20 years from now, I will still see people sporting that fabric, it is just timeless art!
I will make sure I upload pics of me wearing african prints throughout the summer, just to show that I wasn’t kidding!
Oh and if you find creative ways of sporting that breathtaking fabric, send me some pics. I want to see!
Spring is around the corner, Summer is weeks away…..Life is goooooood!
Love Always!
