classic |ˈklasik|

By Myriam ‘M♥’ Richard

noun
1 a work of art of recognized and established value : his books have become classics.
• a garment of a simple, elegant, and long-lasting style.
• a thing that is memorable and a very good example of its kind : he’s hoping that tomorrow’s game will be a classic.

It is a known fact by years of observation that “fashion fades, only style remains the same”, to follow the very words of Coco Chanel (this lady sprouted many a good quotes in her lifetime). As much as we like to splurge or steal on some items that in few months or years ahead we will ask ourselves “how did I ever like/wear this?”, we can rest assure that certain pieces have acquired the permanent label of classics. Always welcomed, they appear effortlessly on international runways. Investing in quality pieces is I believe a must for ones wardrobe. Not only will they last (with proper maintenance, of course) but clever accessorizing and chic and edgy mix-and-matches will makes your looks stylish for years on end.

Here are classic musts for him & her sure to spruce up and secure your wardrobe.

Stylish under the rain

The first trench coat was first designed by Thomas Burberry from being commissioned by the War Office in 1914 for the WWI officers (hence, the word “trench”). In 1920, he designed the iconic model which was worn by many civilians post-war. That same model is still worn today. With tweaks here and there throughout the years, the style never died and kept moving “prorsum”.

Crispy white

Daywear, evening wear, tucked, untucked, with a tie, without a tie. So many ways one can wear it. The white button down shirt. It literally can be worn with anything and tends to pop out every single season on many men or womenswear runways. The whiter it is, the bolder, the better.

The perfect trouser

The one item every one should have in their closet or dresser is the black trouser. Fitted and tailored to ones silhouette for a perfect fit, it is a chameleon which adapts from the office to cocktail hours. But one can have fun a wear it a bit baggy or as a peddle pusher. It’s the safe choice when dressing corporate. However, mixed with other same colored items is always nice, when contrasted with bold colored accessories, shoes  and tops, you’ll always come out a winner.

Laceless

Easily slip ‘em on and go! Loafers are musts in menswear wardrobe. They are confortable and depending on the style can fir any style as well. Kenneth Cole makes some very nice dashing one, like seen below.

The ‘S’

Guys have loafers, us ladies go a bit higher – physically higher. The stiletto pump, named after the pointy dagger, makes the wearer’s legs look slimmer, longer, the feet smaller and the overall height greater. The poster automatically changes by a flexing of the calf muscles perking buttocks and busts. All this by wearing one shoe… Whether they’re Louboutin’s or Aldo’s, worn with a gown or with jeans, they instantly add chic, elegance and feminity to your look.

Live. Laugh. Love.
