Globlove : For love of lingerie |

width= While attending fashion bloggers Candice Pantin of MontrealInFashion and Marjorie Joasil of MarjoriesCloset ‘sWomen’s Day event FabFemmes this past March 8th, we met lingerie designer and entrepreneur Liana Artinian of lingerie label GlobLove.

Walking the hallway of the event, it was the quick appearance in the far edge of my peripheral view of a laced bodysuit that caught my attention and hypnotically guided my steps to the GlobLove’s room. From seeing how refined, simple and classy the pieces presented looked, and how fitting they were to my style, I knew I had to share this with you.

I met with Liana last week to speak GlobLove at the cozy and loungy Café Java U in the Intercontinental Hotel in Old Montreal (you should definitely try their Chai Latte, it is divine!)

While working in China in the fashion industry after her studies, Liana always knew she would one day start her own business, though not certain of what it would be. And in 2010, though unbeknownst to her then, her spare time lingerie design sketches would be the flicker-to-a-flame that would spark the business concept that has now formed into, GlobLove – a classy and sexy Montreal-based lingerie wear label.

“Basically, I design what I would wear, I go with my tastes. The collection is really me”, Artinian says of her design process. With the industry often molding collections from a voyeuristic point of view rather than a self-confort one and commonly lacking affordable (everything is under 80$CDN) and quality pieces that exudes class, maturity, simplicity and femininity but keeping an edginess without the over-sexed flair, Artinian knew this was the route she would mold the label from. Dainty and feminine bra and panty sets, elegantly delicate laced bodysuits, all without wires but intricately designed to offer the necessary support giving ultimate comfort, is what the savvy shopper will find. A barely felt second skin, but a definite noticeable beauty.

As for the name, it’s all about LOVE. Love of oneself, Love of/with a partner, the solidary Love between women, Love of the world… LOVE. The women of GlobLove is free-spirited, coquette, classy, confident, feminine, and a bit of a flirt. Whether this is the woman you are, or one you want to slip your shoes in for the day or night, GlobLove will have the pieces to fit that very woman, any day. Artinian later mentioned how “lingerie sets the mood for the day”, and it is such a true fact. And what nice thing to know that GlobLove will have the pieces for each of those moods for GlobLove is for YOU.

Moreover, a partnership with a non-profit organization was second skin to start her business. She therefore decided to do some research that lead to information on micro-finance (micro-finance is a movement that actively promotes and contributes the giving of permanent access to high quality financial services to individuals or group of individuals with low to very low-income and who traditionally lack access to banking services – it is said to help counteract poverty).

From micro-finance, she discovered FINCA, the Foundation for International Community Assistance. Actor Natalie Portman is their Ambassador of Hope. GlobLove proudly donates 5% of its proceeds to FINCA which provides financial services to low-income entrepreneurs in 21 developing countries – the majority of them being women.
