(May 6, 2011)

By M While reading one of the best books I’ve laid my eyes upon, Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetics of Space, the author says of art after a reflexion to a quote from french author Lescure that it “is an increase of life, a sort of competition of surprises that stimulates our consciousness and keeps it from becoming somnolent”. Well-designed bliss on water

(Feb. 2, 2011)

By M♥ The need of sustainable design is now becoming instictive in today’s world. Less impact on the environment is the goal. Following this state of mind comes new ways of designing. For the past months, I’ve been thinking about a new way of building which is currently now trending all over the world: Floating architecture. It is amazing what today’s architects come up with in terms of building on water. (READ MORE…)

Mission Possible: Design

(Feb.2, 2011)

By M♥ Every year, the Ordre des Architectes du Québec (Order of Architect of Québec) award the excellent and outstanding work of their members. And I wanted to catch your attention on their winner in the “single family residential building” project in 2011 for their 26th award edition. It is mainly to show you how the world of design in Quebec is definitely moving towards a distinctive style that will, in much future decades, be characterized as the early 21st century architecture in Quebec. (Feb.2, 2011)

By M♥ With a gloomier year than usual with the economy hitting almost rock bottom, not much could bring the affected sprits so high. But the little that could be done was a help in its rights. That is why the color reference king that is Pantone came up with a color that would make one “ESCAPE” from the dull thoughts and attitude that 2010 was bringing on people: Turquoise. (READ MORE…)

By M Human: the only specie that can discern and appreciate beauty. As human being ourselves, shouldn’t we take advantage of that feature… to the fullest? Canadian painter Lawren Harris once said “For the arts epitomize, intensify and clarify the experience of beauty for us as nothing else can.” How true is this? Although nature’s beauty is undeniable, for all else, the presence of art does intensify our experience of beauty. (READ MORE…)

(Jul. 13, 2010)

By M♥ As I work in the art industry, I am always on the lookout for new, cool, modern, beautiful and poetic works of art and the artists that made them or the galleries that represent them. With exhibitors carrying loads of reproductions, it was palpable to see how the industry of art is unfortunately suffering. (READ MORE…)
